AirAsia's Fernandes says Qantas CEO did the right thing

SINGAPORE (Reuters): Embattled Qantas Airways Ltd CEO Alan Joyce has found support from an unexpected quarter -- AirAsia Bhd CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, who said the Australian flag carrier's decision to ground its fleet over the weekend was about survival.

"You have to salute Alan Joyce for doing what he's doing. This is not about workers versus management. It's about survival in the modern world," Fernandes said on his Twitter account.
Qantas said before the weekend that it had lost about A$70mil since September owing to the industrial action by unions over pay, working conditions and the Australian carrier's plan to base more operations in Asia.

  1. Survival my foot, tony. How to survive when you splash good Malaysian public money on F1 and football club?
